The Catastrophic Impact of Rising Oceans on the Pacific Islands Essay

The Catastrophic Impact of Rising Oceans on the Pacific Islands All over the world indigenous communities are faced with an array of new problems, though the public continues to gain insight into the lives of these people they continue to be marginalized in the global arena as well. The Pacific Islands are an entity far removed from the minds of most westerners. The primary focus of any political discourse within the United States places most emphasis on Australia and New Zealand ignoring the smaller less politically salient states. However, it is these smaller islands that will bare the brunt of one huge problem in the future, global warming. For the purpose of this paper I will ignore the polemics of global warming and not hypothesize whether or not it actually has any permanent adverse effects on the ecosystems of the world or whether or not it is cyclical. Instead, I will focus on the evidence already documented within the Pacific Island states, evidence which lends strong support to the notion that the earth is getting warmer and the oceans are rising. For the people of the lowland Pacific Islands it doesn’t matter if the current warming is a temporary trend that will reverse itself in a few centuries, they will have to deal with it on a much more short-term basis. The ocean has already begun to change and for the people of the Pacific Islands that is a major concern, it could be catastrophic if left unattended. The prospect of rising waters in the oceans has a transcendent effect on the Pacific Islands. Not only will the oceans rise and the seas become more torrent, their very cultures could be uprooted and their modes of existence forever changed. Recently a new study conducted by the National Oceanographic Data C... ...rliest Washington cherry blossom peak...Almost no one disputes the fact that a substantial rise in sea level would be a bad thing, inundating first a number of oceanic nations such as the Marshall Islands and Vanuatu in the Pacific, and the moving on to eat up places like Manhattan and the world’s other great coastal cities...The plight of Washington’s cherry blossoms pale by comparison. The National Park Service is making no promises, but barring a catastrophic petal-scattering storm, it appears there will be enough blossoms around on April 9th to avoid total embarrassment at this years parade. Features of an environment or service promotes Essay

Play areas both indoor and outdoor always attract children and is an excellent source to encourage them to use their learning senses, abilities and skills. Number of different entertaining and creative play opportunities should be provided by the practitioners which make these areas interesting and virtually appealing. Practitioners and play areas should be well planned and organised in such a way that challenge children’s abilities, keep children’s interests intact and consistent, and focus around the children’s requirements , as every single child is unique and have their own needs, interest, personality and preference. Early years foundation stage (EYFS) requires settings that provides the personalised activity and play opportunities for children in ways which are inclusive. The settings also provide opportunity for practitioners to think critically and constructively about what is beneficial together with what is assessable for children as well as what is ava ilable for children. In addition, EYFS requires that practitioners encourage children to actively participate in all the activities which help and support us to shaping up a child’s attitude. Furthermore, practitioners have to look at different ways of helping children, learn about appropriate behaviour, respecting and valuing others, promoting equality, diversity and cooperation. This is also very essential that such settings must also meet EYFS statutory framework, health and safety legislation child protection, safeguarding of children, all the children’s act, for example UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). The play area setting should have policies and procedures that need to be reviewed updated and evaluated to check reliability and effectiveness. The setting needs to give children number of new opportunities to play in style and at the same time make practitioners to think more about fun and learn activities and ideas. Practitioners give special consideration to both individual and group needs of our children with their daily activities. Practitioners also pay attention to various risks involve during any play activity to make sure that the chil dren are safe and thus give adult supervision at all times. This also encourage children to evaluate risks  for themselves and for others for example by giving children some challenging activities that involve minimal risk. Parents and carers should always be welcomed to support and encourage their children during the activity.

With all the cultural vibes, Prague is preserved as a Historical Centre including magical bridges, cathedrals and gold tripped towers, church domes and Vltava River (Papathanassis, 2011). Prague is also known for its diversified values. The nightlife of the city is very famous in Europe as hotels, restaurants, clubs and travel trips provide another source of attraction. With all the architectural sites, the city offers some other features as music, art and nostalgic events (Humphreys & Nollen, 2002). One type of tourism is â€Å"Dark Tourism†. In order to understand the phenomenon of the dark tourism it can be said that it is a visitation of those places that are related to death histories and tragedies occurred while dealing with the heritage of the humanity (Willis, 2011). People are getting more curious to know about the death disasters (Willis, 2014). Dark tourism is also known as â€Å"thanatourism†, because both have same meaning but interpreted differently. Places that are related to the death related histories are included in dark tourism. Ntunda (2014) also described dark tourism by using different terms and that is â€Å"black spots† (Robinson, et al. , 2011). It can be defined as the gravesites needs commercial developments especially those sites where large number of people experience violent deaths that happened suddenly (Dalton, 2014). Different authors and researchers have described dark tourism with their understanding in which Dalton (2014) used â€Å"thanatourism† term instead of dark tourism (Dalton, 2014). He suggests that traveling to a location that has a history and symbolic encounters related to the death depends on the interest and motivation to collect the information about these sites. It means that people who travel to the dark sites go there to experience the aura of these places (Wilson, 2008). The literature on dark tourism simply suggest that as the trend for dark tourism is increasing, therefore, those cities and countries that have different tragic histories are more focusing on the maintenance of those sites (Hannam & Knox, 2010).
